The Nursing Assistant (NA) training course is offered in a fast-paced an online hybrid format for students that are working in a facility. The online hybrid course combines face-to-face classroom instruction with online learning. Students must have access to a computer with internet to complete the online course work; a computer will not be provided by CWI.
The course includes 6 weeks of online lessons as well as 8 hours per week of onsite, in-person skills training. Students will also have a minimum of 8 hours of homework per week. ***Attendance is mandatory***
Students can access a class supply list through the digital download provided at the time of registration. Students must bring all supplies to class on the first day. Students must read chapters 1, 2, 3, 10 and 34 before the first day of class. Additional requirements will be discussed at the orientation on the first day of class.
Following the completion of the online lessons and in-person skills training, students are required to complete 32 hours of clinical externship Students must be able to pass a background check and drug screen to attend clinicals. Students must complete your American Heart Association BLS CPR for Healthcare Providers certification before class.
If students have a felony or certain misdemeanors on their record, they may not be assigned to a clinical site. Once students complete their clinical hours, they are eligible to take the Idaho Nursing Assistance competency exams. For ESL students, CWI Workforce Development recommends taking the CASAS test prior to registering for the Nursing Assistant class. Any student concerned about their ability to succeed in the class may also take the CASAS test free of charge. Please call 208.562.2575 for more information regarding the CASAS test.
