This course will introduce Certified Family Home providers and family caregivers to the basics of medication awareness, safety and infection control. A qualified instructor will review the basic understanding of medications, including routes of administration, record-keeping, limitations, and injections. Students will also learn how to properly store and care for medications, review prescription labels, medical information sheets and log sheets for appropriate use. Students will also learn proper oversight of medications, proper medication disposal techniques and the importance of infection control. A certification exam and manual skills exam will also take place at the end of class to review learning and check for understanding.
