Interested in enhancing your knowledge of fundamental machine hydraulics? The Hydraulic Fundamental program at College of Western Idaho (CWI) is designed for individuals seeking to deepen their basic understanding of equipment hydraulic systems. The concepts covered in this class will help you with basic knowledge and common troubleshooting skills for any mobile powered machine, whether it be diesel, automotive, heavy equipment, or small engine. Whether you are a professional looking to refine your skills or a beginner aiming to enter the field, this program offers fundamental training and testing of the various hydraulic components.
The course covers the principles of hydraulics, fluid power, and Pascal's Law. Emphasis is placed on the understanding of how pumps and valves work through the construction of hydraulic circuits, along with schematic reading and testing and evaluating of components. The class includes hands-on learning that involves the construction of hydraulic circuits, testing, and evaluating of common systems found in mobile equipment.  
Upon completion, students will have a greater understanding of how hydraulic circuits work, what each component in the circuit accomplishes, what conditions affect pressure and flow in a hydraulic circuit, and an overall increased awareness of how fluid power is used to generate, control, and transmit power.
